    This dataset contains wave spectra, wave statistics and current data collected by surface and subsurface moorings across three sites in the Bristol Channel between March 2010 and April 2011. A Datawell Mk.III directional Waverider buoy was moored at one site collecting wave spectra and statistics data while Nortek Acoustic Wave and Current meters (AWAC) were moored at the seabed in trawl resistant frames at two sites. The AWACs collected wave data from the surface and current data through the water column split into 2 m bins. TRIAXYS directional wave sensors with onboard Nortek Aquadopp current profilers were also deployed at the two sites. Like the AWAC moorings, the TRIAXYS moorings collected wave data from the surface and current data through the water column split into 1 m bins. The data were collected as part of the environmental impact assessment of the proposed Atlantic Array offshore wind farm. GEMS Survey Ltd were contracted to conduct the data collection and provided the data to The Crown Estate as the landowner of the UK seabed out to 12 nautical miles. The data and associated metadata reports are held at the British Oceanographic Data Centre, as a MEDIN Data Archiving Centre.

    This dataset comprises hydrographic and meteorological data transmitted in near real time from unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). Also included are hydrographic profiles through the water column obtained from submarine Slocum gliders, upon recovery. Data from these platforms have been converted into the international 'Everyone's Gliding Observatories (EGO)' exchange format. The dataset is supported by barotrophic tidal current imagery. Hydrographic data were obtained from two geographical regions. Firstly, from a transect extending from the Isles of Scilly out to the moored Carbon And Nutrient Dynamics and Fluxes Over Shelf Systems ('Candyfloss') Array in the Celtic Sea. Subsequently, a more localised survey was carried out in the English Channel, south of Plymouth. The tidal image data span the period 1st October to 21st November 2014 (15 minute intervals). Autonomous platforms were deployed between 1st and 26th October 2014 (Phase One, Celtic Sea), subsequently between 4th and 7th November 2014 (Phase Two, English Channel). Data were collected as part of Marine Autonomous Systems in Support of Marine Observations ('MASSMO'), contributing to the Exploring Ocean Fronts project. Tidal images are a product of Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Coastal Ocean Modelling System (POLCOMS) simulation runs. MASSMO was carried out as a trial of new autonomous technologies and to collect scientific data, including observation of marine life. The dataset acquired provides valuable oceanographic and meteorological measurements including a traverse of an ocean front. MASSMO was a collaborative effort involving various UK laboratories and commercial organisations, coordinated by the National Oceanography Centre (NOC). This data archive consists of measurements made by wavegliders operated by NOC and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), the MOST Autonaut and Slocum glider units 398 and 400, operated by NOC.

    This dataset comprises metocean (current, wave,wind, meteorology and water level) data collected by oil companies Shell, BP and Total at their offshore oil and gas fields worldwide. It does not included the hindcast modelling simulations which were run on behalf of these oil companies; just the metocean measurements. Additionally, some data on the effect of water motion on platform stability, corrosion (dissolved oxygen concentration), ice thickness and movement and hydrography (vertical profiles of salinity, temperature and density and occasionally sound velocity) are included. The vast majority of the data were measured by instruments, although some human observations of wind speed and wave height and direction are also included. Geographic coverage is worldwide, according to the location of offshore oil and gas fields: NE and NW Atlantic, North Sea, Norwegian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic Sea, Caspian Sea, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of Guinea, South Atlantic, Magellan Straits, Sea of Okhotsk, Indian Ocean, South China Sea, Seram Sea, Malacca Straits, Makassar Strait. The earliest dataset was collected in 1961 and the most recent in 2010. Collection is ongoing. At present, there are over 2550 datsets covering more than 2000 years of observations of winds, waves, currents and sealevels.

    The dataset comprises 10 hydrographic data profiles, collected by a conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) sensor package, and 40 moored CTDs from across the North Atlantic Ocean area specifically the Subtropical North Atlantic, during May and June 2006. The data were collected by the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton as part of the Rapid Climate Change Programme.
